Megan Joy Corkrey Flaps Her Wings and Leaves “American Idol” – Rolling Stone

The episode began with a dreaded group number, but in a stunning turn of events, the Idols’ version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” did not suck. Matt Giraud sounded oddly like Steve Perry (and by extension, Arnel Pineda) and the track was amazingly suited to their voices. America could have done without the Idols doing impressions of each other to kill time, but it was still better than the live fan Q&A debacle from last season. And after David Cook performed and was presented with his platinum plaque (see, some Idols actually sell albums!), the hopefuls were separated into trios, and Corkrey, Allison Iraheta and Anoop Desai were dumped in the bottom three. The judges wanted to see Megan sing an Adele, Winehouse or Duffy song — we would have settled for Nelly Furtado’s “I’m Like a Bird.”
